How to remove wallpaper:

Remember that you must not only remove the wallpaper, but the glue that holds it to the wall. If you miss this important step, your paint job will not be satisfactory. Remaining glue will make the paint to look uneven and flakes can also be a problem.

Begin by covering furniture and floors with tarps. This will be messy job, and you don’t want to spoil anything during the process. Tape over trim and baseboards. Don’t forget to cover all switches and outlets with tape and then turn off electricity to the room before you start the work.

    • Mix the commercial wallpaper remover as per the directions.
    • Spray the remover on the wallpaper to soften the glue. Wait for a few minutes.

Start lifting the wallpaper and scraping with the grain of the glue. If there are many layers of wallpaper, try removing them one by one. Throughout the process, be careful that you don’t damage drywall with the putty knife.

Once you have removed the wallpaper and most of the glue, again spray the remaining paste with the solution. Then scrub it with a sponge or steel wood. Use towels to dry them.

Once you are done with the above mentioned steps, leave walls to dry for 24 hours. Check if there is any stickiness on the walls. If you find the wall sticky, repeat the spraying, scraping and clean-up process for particular area or areas.

Depending on the amount of work, your skills and available time, you may want to assign this task to a professional painter Gold Coast.
