Aluminium Fence Painting in Monument: Durable, Modern & Sprayed to Perfection
RepaintPro’s Onsite System for Reviving Slatted Aluminium Fences Across the Gold Coast
A Fresh Take on Aluminium Fencing
Aluminium fencing is a popular choice across South East Queensland — for good reason. It’s durable, low-maintenance, and ideal for our salty coastal conditions. But over time, those once-sleek frames fade, discolour, and date your home or commercial property.
If your aluminium fencing or gates are looking tired, you don’t have to replace them. At RepaintPro, we use the same proven system we apply to aluminium window frames to revive, protect, and modernise your fencing — on site.
Our process is professional, fast, and delivers a factory-like finish in modern colours like Colorbond Monument, Surfmist, or Satin Black. The video attached to this post shows exactly that — spraying Monument onto a slatted aluminium fence and matching gate with our airless spray technique.
Why Repaint Aluminium Fences Instead of Replacing?
Replacing aluminium fencing can cost thousands, especially for full boundary wraps, pool fences, or architecturally framed facades. But the majority of faded aluminium fences still have perfect structure — they just need a new surface.
Here’s why our clients choose to repaint instead of replace:
✅ Cost-effective – Up to 70% cheaper than replacement ✅ Faster turnaround – Most projects completed inside a week ✅ Colour-matched to suit your home ✅ Fully protected against corrosion and UV damage ✅ No demolition or rebuild required
You already have the framework — we restore it.
Our Aluminium Fence Repainting System
We use the same multi-layer spray system we’ve perfected for aluminium windows, with slight adjustments to suit fencing and gates.
Step 1: Cleaning and Surface Prep
Every job starts with preparation. That means:
Thorough washing and degreasing with solvent-based cleaners Sanding or scuffing the surface to help the primer bind Checking for oxidisation, corrosion, or silicone residue and removing it
Surface prep is everything. It’s what makes the paint hold and what separates a professional finish from a short-lived job.
Step 2: Masking & Protection
We mask surrounding surfaces with:
Edge-protective painter’s tape Low-tack plastic sheeting Drop sheets around concrete, gardens, or rendered walls
Because fences are often close to walls, decking, or pool tiles, we go the extra step to ensure there’s zero overspray on surrounding areas.
Step 3: Priming for Maximum Adhesion
We select the right primer based on your final colour and surface condition. For aluminium fences like the one in the video (slatted Monument), we typically use:
Etch primer if the surface is raw or worn Black or grey adhesion primer for Monument and other dark tones Sprayed using airless spray equipment for a smooth, even finish
The primer not only bonds to the aluminium, it sets the tone for the finish — allowing the true depth of the colour to come through.
Step 4: Spraying the Finish Colour
We apply 2–3 coats of low-sheen or semi-gloss acrylic exterior paint, colour-matched to Colorbond standards. In the video, the fence and gate are sprayed in Monument, one of our most requested shades.
Airless spraying gives a flawless, brush-free finish The colour dries with a professional edge, like factory-coated fencing Acrylics used are durable, UV-resistant, and easy to maintain
We don’t use HVLP guns here — our airless system provides greater coverage and eliminates streaking.
Step 5: Final Walkthrough and Inspection
Once the final coat has cured, we:
Carefully remove masking Check all joins, overlaps and corners Do a full client walkthrough to ensure satisfaction
That’s when the transformation really comes to life. A faded fence is now bold, modern, and protected for years.

Why Monument is a Popular Choice
Colorbond Monument is a bold charcoal-grey with a modern architectural look. It pairs well with:
White render Timber cladding Natural stone Modern landscaping
It also works as a high-contrast upgrade to homes with older beige, cream, or light grey fences. When sprayed correctly, Monument provides a sophisticated matte edge without overwhelming the rest of the property.
We Also Spray Gates, Posts & Screens
Our aluminium repainting system isn’t just for fences:
Pedestrian gates Sliding driveway gates Decorative aluminium screens Horizontal slats Fence top trims and posts
If it’s aluminium and structurally sound, we can spray it.
Common FAQs About Fence Repainting
Can you paint powder-coated aluminium fences?
Absolutely. Our cleaning, priming, and finish system is designed specifically for powder-coated aluminium. The key is in the surface prep and primer — not just the topcoat.
How long does it last?
We are fully licensed with the QBCC and provide a 6-year workmanship warranty. We’ve revisited jobs more than 8.5 years later that still look as good as the day they were sprayed.
Do I need to remove anything before you paint?
We’ll handle most of the prep. You just need to:
Clear space around the fence (bins, hoses, potted plants) Let us know about sprinklers or water-sensitive areas Give us access on painting day
Can you match Colorbond colours?
Yes. We can match all standard Colorbond colours including:
Monument Basalt Woodland Grey Surfmist Ironstone Wallaby Shale Grey
Let us know what you’d like, and we’ll make it happen.
How long does it take?
Most aluminium fence projects are completed in 2–4 days, depending on size and access. We’ll confirm timing during quoting.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessarily. We just need access and can keep you updated remotely. During active spraying, we recommend you stay inside or head out, as our team wears protective gear.
