Why we dont use brushes or rollers when painting aluminium window frames

Why We Don’t Use Brushes or Rollers on Aluminium Window Frames

We get asked often why we don’t use brushes or rollers on aluminium windows, and the answer is simple: aluminium requires a completely different approach. It’s not like painting a wall or a bit of timber trim. Aluminium needs a system that bonds properly, lays flat, and finishes like a factory coating — and brushes or rollers simply can’t do that.

Brushes leave texture, drag marks and overlap lines. Rollers leave orange peel. Both can create thick edges, uneven build and poor adhesion. On aluminium, these issues don’t just look bad, they can cause problems months or years later.

Spraying gives a smooth, even, controlled film build that matches the original manufactured finish. It allows us to get around sills, mullions, underside folds and tight corners without leaving any buildup or heavy edges. It also means the frames dry evenly and look like they were always made in the new colour.

Every window we repaint goes through proper cleaning, sanding, priming, tack coating, and then controlled spraying — not brushing or rolling. That’s why the results look sharp, modern and consistent every time.

If you want your aluminium windows updated the right way, send through a few photos and your suburb.
